Little Chums is a real family run nursery; we are parents ourselves, so we pride ourselves on understanding the importance of choosing the right setting for your child.

We strive to offer the most flexible hours of any local setting, coupled with fees that are affordable and realistic.  We offer this without compromising the quality of our childcare.

The full list of services provided, provisions made and opening hours are listed below in the table.  You only provide feed and nappies if your child(ren) is of baby age!

Below the table is some information about financial help you may be able to receive from both the UK and Welsh Governments towards paying your monthly fees!  Make sure you read this as every little helps!

Every month we keep a percentage of our childcare spaces free for those who need the flexibility of ‘rota’ sessions.

You may be entitled and/or eligible to claim money towards your monthly childcare fees.  Little Chums is registered with various agencies and schemes to help you do this.

Welsh Government Childcare Offer
The ‘Childcare Offer for Wales’ is help from the Welsh Government that could reduce your invoice by a few hundred pounds every month and is available from the term after your child turns 3 years old!  The offer is made up of funded hours at Little Chums and hours at a local school.  Eligibility criteria do apply.  Please contact us for more information.  There is also information on the Torfaen Family Information Service website here...

Tax Free Childcare & Childcare Vouchers
Tax Free Childcare ‘refunds’ any income tax you pay on earnings which is used to pay your monthly childcare fees.  You register an account with National Savings and Investment and then use this account to pay Little Chums directly.  More information can be found on the UK Government website here...

Universal Credit
If you claim ‘Universal Credit’ and meet the eligibility criteria, then the Government will pay up to 85% of your childcare fees for you. You do need to pay the monthly invoice first, before claiming the fees back each month. Speak to your usual benefits adviser and/or channels of support for further information.  Some information can be found here...

College & University Courses
If you’re undertaking further education, some colleges / universities offer childcare funding either themselves or via ‘Student Finance Wales’.  Speak to your college or university to see if you’re eligible!

Assisted Places
‘Assisted Places’ could be claimed if certain health, physical or environmental factors affect your child, who must be under 3 years old.  Criteria does apply but if successful, this scheme will support 5 hours of child care per week.  Please speak to your Health Visitor.

Employability Support
The Torfaen Employability Support (other councils have similar schemes) team could help you back into work and provide guidance on support with childcare costs.  The Job Centre may even pay some or all of your childcare costs short term if you are undergoing training.  Find information here...
